confession from a miser - My future child

will probably not wear a single 'new' item of clothing that I bought him/her until Kindergarten school pictures day.

I buy everything from consignment stores except my jeans, underclothes and suits.  (Jeans are hard enough to find in a good fit, and suits I wear for 5-9 years. ALL of my cashmere sweaters and tops are bought used.)

  • I have found that if I wait for super sales, I can get stuff cheaper than a consignment shop (at least in our area).  I am a professional sales shopper.

I stocked up on stuff for winter next year at some awesome kids sales.  I hope the sizes work.

  • Part of it for me is that I HATE shopping, so paying attention to sales is not going to happen.  I only walk into a mall about once a year and find that to be more than enough.

But there is a seller at a consignment shop (k93) who is my size, and I have been buying her cast-offs for years!  I think she gets lots of clothing gifts she doesn't like and that I share the tastes of whoever is buying them for her.

  • I always say I'm going to shop in the consignment stores here but I walk in, get overwhelmed, and leave.  I need organized racks of all the same things in different sizes.  This is also why I can't handle too much of TJ Maxx or Marshalls.  I just don't have the patience to dig.
