Painting your own wall pictures

When it comes to pictures and wall art I can't find anything that I like!!! Well, no. I can find a ton of stuff that I like, but it's like $25 for a 10x10 square. I'd need like 7 of those to make the room look decent but i'm not looking forward to spending that kind of money.

We painted the room two tone, and I was thinking about buying some canvas from the craft store and painting my own pictures. We have paint left over.... i'm not an artist in any way, but was thinking of polka dots (which is my theme) on canvas.

For the walls that are pink, painting the canvas brown with pink polka dots. And the walls that are brown, painting the canvas pink with brown polka dots.

Has anyone ever done anything like this before? I'm not sure how much canvas is, but it should be cheaper than this $25 10x10 crap.

    10x10 will be expensive.  The square sizes are "specialty" and cost more at Michaels.   if you get the 16x20 size, Michaels just had them in a 5 pack for $14.99 a few weeks ago.

     Don't forget your 40% off coupons you can get by signing up for their email list.

    Painting polka dots sounds very easy.  Google image or look up on flickr "polka dot art nursery" or something like that.

    It might not end up being that much cheaper if you use canvas.  Have you checked etsy?

    I can't seem to navigate etsy well. I can never find anything!

    I did this. I think I got an 8 pack of 8x10 canvases. They were around $15-20 and I used a 50% off coupon. I bought a bunch of colored acrylic paints for $1-2 in the aisle near the wooden letters, and used another 50% off coupon for a pack of paint brushes. It all ended up being about $20 and I still have plenty of paint left over that I've been using for other projects, like a mobile!

    The canvas paintings aren't done yet, but here's what they look like so far. The animals are from the crib sheet.
