Ok, so I really want to teach my child(ren) the truth about things (where babies come from, private parts, sex, and so on)... But, I never though about this until today.
- What are we going to call things such as breasts, penis, vagina, etc. ? I mean, should we give them child-ish names or just call them what they are? I don't want my child(ren) to possibly get in trouble for using the natural words for things - because some think it is vulgar-, but I also don't want them to not know the natural(proper) words for things.
Am I weird or wrong for wanting to use the "correct" terms?
It always kind of irritated me when my step-mother would tell my siblings that a woman's vagina was called a "biscuit!" - I guess that is why I have a weird outlook on "childish names" for things.
So... What do/are you going to call these things? What is your outlook on this topic? Just out of curiousity.
Re: Random Question...
We use penis. Anthony heard the word vagina for the first time the other day b/c he asked where my penis was and I explained girls have vaginas. I think it is completely appropriate to use the correct terms.
I have always used the proper names with my children but children will call them what they will. Kalie call's her's her vagesta, JM and Doug call it their Peanuts. Even when I correct them. When they did good touch and bad touch at safety camp and school they called them their private parts, so they will know call them private parts now as well.
Call them what you will but at the end of the day they will call them what they want
Huh? Your step mother calls what, WHAT?
Proper names. Not that hard. This is your head. This is your nose. This is your penis.
No.big.deal.
