Well just to update everyone, I got admitted Wed afternoon. Went for another cervial measurement and it went from 1.1 to 0.7. I hate my cervix. So hospital bed rest for me. I hope it's for a while. I'm so bummed, I thought that it would stop shrinking since I was put on bedrest but I guess not. I'm terrified for Madelyn, as a mom you want to give your child everything. I don't want to give her a stay in the NICU. I'm thankful for every day she stays put. My first goal is 28wks which is tomorrow. At 28wks Madddy has a 90% survival. I just figured out the internet, thank goodness. I was going to go crazy without it. The nurses and docs are good and hopeful. They don't know when I'll deliver. They said I could go full term, it's unlikely but possible. I'll keep hoping I'm here for at least 9 wks.

Re: My cervix sucks
Cervical issues are so hard, because you just don't know, I am so thankful for every day that I am still pregnant. I was admitted to the hospital at 22 weeks and I had the dr's coming in and even the head of nicu department tell me if I deliver they weren't going to do anything to save my baby, but they just discharged me at 30 weeks, and none of them thought I was going to get that far.
While I was in the hospital I made what I called chains of hope, and my DH and i would make those little paper chains that we made in elementary school and would make my change day a diff. color and every night when we went to bed we would take one off and then pray together, it sounds stupid but it helped us, and now that I am home we still do it. We did it for a month at a time i.e next goal like 24 weeks, 28 weeks and now we are working on our 32 week chain and will be making one *hopefully for 36 weeks:)
The 28 week mark is such a huge deal in the pg world, I unfortunately must have the DNA of PTL b/c there are 5 of us that were born early in my family, I have seen my 29 week cousin grow to be an adult man, my husbands sister had a 26 weeker and you would not know it, and I was born early, and 2 32 weekers, all of us you wouldn't know we were preemies, I told docs that I was born around the beginning of the 3rd trimester and they look me up and down and say wow, yep miracle, so it can happen for us all.
Goodluck and there are so many success stories, and you are already hitting such an amazing mark!
PS have you gotten the steroid shots?
It is possible to go awhile with a short cervix. I have been on hospital bedrest for 25 days now. When I got admitted, I was 0.8, but have been holding steady right at 1.0-1.2. This is with contractions and extreme uterine irritability.
Are you having contractions as well?

I know it is so scary. At 27 weeks I also got admitted to the hospital when my OB found that my cervix had shortened to 6 mm, I was also not dilated at all. When it was clear I wasn't contracting, he sent me home on strict bedrest. The next week my cervix had gone up to 12mm and at other checks it's been 16mm. It's now 6 weeks later and I am still pregnant, no more cervical checks. So I really think you'll be fine. My OB's philosophy is no hospital stays unless the situation is dire; my OB would have sent you home.
There's lots of support on this board; next thing you know you'll be at 30 weeks, then 32, and so on... you can do it and you will!
I also really like MsPeay's idea of the links, that sounds like a great visual reminder of how much you're accomplishing. Good luck!
I'm so sorry! I'm sure being in the hospital will be hard but at least you won't have the constant worry because you'll always be monitored.
Thank goodness for nearing the 28 week mark and for the steroid shots! Did they give you an fFn test?
You can post over on preemies about babies born early and you will hear some amazing stories. They made me feel a lot better when I was told I was most likely going to deliver by 26 weeks.
I'll be thinking of you - feel free to e-mail (tagsale1221@yahoo.com)
GL, mama! I know hospital BR is going to be hard, but I'm praying that you can keep Maddy cooking until your goal!
