I am new to posting... My name is Amber, I am a nurse (currently in L&D after 7 years in ER) in the St. Pete/Manatee area. I am a first time mom-to-be due August 1st. I am looking for the tried and true baby gear out there (reasonably priced). I am curious, what is everyone's favorite pack and play, stroller, car seat, sling, swing, breast pump, etc? Things to avoid are great to know too. Thanks!
Re: Looking for baby gear advice
the Fisher Price Papasan swing was a lifesaver for us. If I were to do it differently, I would buy the one that plugs in (if they still make it), since we spent a month or so with DD1 where she wouldn't sleep anywhere but the swing. We went through a lot of batteries that month.
I am loving the Moby Wrap these days. I had the hotsling for DD1 and hated it, but I love the flexibility of the moby.
GL, and congrats on your little one! Where are you delivering? (I live in Bradenton and delivered at LWR)
Congratulations! It will be fun now that you're on the other side of things. It's been a few years since I've bought anything and I'm shocked at how much things have changed.
Have you seen the latest edition of Baby Bargains? They review all the gear and make recommendations about which is best for each price range.
GL!
Melissa
Welcome and congrats! I live in Bradenton and work in St. Pete and am due two days after you I often ask baby gear questions on the bump national board, too - it's the "Nurseries and Baby Gear" one: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/4236749/ShowForum.aspx
It's cool to see so many Manatee-area moms on here
