vent about OB... {long}

Lastnight I started contracting at 5:30. They would come in sets of 10-12 every 2 minutes followed by one or two 7 minutes apart... After Three hours of them I called my OB on call. because the strength of them was starting to pick up. I was told to come in and get checked, to not eat anything since I'm a c/s and they want me to wait 6 hours from my last meal to go under. We go home(had been running a few errands) and pack the last minutes items we needed in our bags and call a family member to take DS.

Finally get to L&D triage around 9:00pm. put me on the monitor and I was showing contractions every 3 minutes. Having HORRIBLE back labor to boot. The nurses are doing all of their initial admin questions, and calling my OB to let him know I was there. I get a scrub down to prepare for surgery if/when it would happen. The OB told them to check me and to start an IV and call him after the first bag finished to see what my contractions were doing.

The nurse who checked me couldnt reach. I told her that on 2/22 I was 50% effaced, 3cms, -1, and pretty posterior. She said that I was SO posterior now that even if I was a VBAC candidate before I wasnt anymore b/c theres NO way it would move up. She said she could barely touch my cervix and she was one drop of lube away to her whole fist being up in me. The IV girl SUCKED, my arm hurts BADLY!!! I've had med students do better IVs on me than her...and I have VERY strong veins in my arms. 1st bag of saline in made me have to pee REALLY badly but I couldnt get up until they called the OB again. My contractions were gaining intensity still but were down to every 5 minutes.

OB said to hang another 2 Liters of Saline and call him back! (grr) It was now midnight and I was starting to get angry & fiesty that they kept thinking I was dehydrated when all I drink is water and had 8 cups of water that day. Anyway, get through all of that got done.... My contractions dropped to 6-7 minutes but at a 5-6 on my 0-10 scale of pain... They called OB back he said to discharge me!!! He never came to see me. OH and the other nurse I had tried to check me, I asked for someone with longer fingers since the other nurse couldnt reach, she didnt listen....couldnt reach and just wrote down that I was the same as what I told her I was at my last check!!!

I am home, contracting every 6 minutes, but b/c its not under 5 they wont do anything. My c/s is scheduled for next Friday, and I have an appointment tomorrow morning(in which I will be making a formal complaint that the OB just strung me along and never came to see me or check to see if I was progressing to a point when they should do the c/s)

I'm angry and bitter that they would send someone full term home having steady painful contractions just because they aren't in the range they like... and that they didnt get a different nurse to check me! I ended up getting home at 3am.

Definitely do make the formal complaint about the OB.

At that point they had made it clear I was going home, so I was just ready to get out and in my own bed or else I would have been more forceful about it.
