thing. My dress is new, my earrings are old, but I don't have anything borrowed or blue. I regected all her ideas until she finally came up with me borrowing a blue ribbon from her, which I am going to tie around my toe (getting married barefoot). For some reason this makes me giggle.

Re: My friend is insisting I do the whole Old, New, Borrowed, Blue
see. thats cute.
you could tie it around your ankle or do a blue toe ring.
I think its a cute tradition, but not for everyone.
I borrowed MIL's pearls, wore blue undies, wrapped one of my g-ma's old doiley hankie thingies around my bouquet, and my dress was new. I think I also borrowed an old pair of pearl earring from my mom.
Not having a bouquet and my dress shows everything so I can't wear a garter. These were two of her ideas that didn't work
If I was your IRL friend I would insist as well. I think it's a nice tradition.
You will rock that blue ribbon

Blue ribbon in your hair? Mine was easy because I had a wide blue ribbon (thin sash) around my waist.
I personally would haaaate the feeling of a ribbon tied around my toe while walking barefoot in the sand. I would think I had seaweed stuck in my toes lol.
::slowly blinks::
Hmm. Blue ribbon around the toe it is! If you think that may be uncomfortable (that would be my only problem with it) you could maybe find a cheap, small blue hair pin/comb of some kind and tuck that into your hair where you can't see it. Your friend could even buy it and then let you borrow it. LOL
The toe thing makes me smile.
For the life of me, I can not remember what my blue was.
My old and borrowed was my BFF's engagement ring which was her Grandmother-In-Law's before that. I wore it on my right hand and there is a picture of Her husband (BestMan) holding my hand and telling me the story of the ring.
My new was ofcourse my dress and jewelry.
And I even put coins in my shoe, but I can not remember what my blue was. I THINK I may have had my toenails painted blue (Because I was wearing boots).
shoot. I bought those to wear on the honeymoon - and completely forgot about them!

I think it's a sweet tradition. The idea of you having a ribbon around your toe makes me giggle too!
My old was my grandmother's pearls that my mother gave to me on my wedding day (tear!), my new was a pair of diamond chandelier earrings that DH gave me at our rehearsal dinner, my borrowed was an antique Spanish veil and my blue was the garter.
