I am beyond obsessed w/ my video baby monitor. We've used it constantly since our older DD moved into her nursery around 4/5mos old...added a 2nd camera once our 2nd daughter came along and it has been my absolute favorite baby must have...
We are in our new house for a little over a month and we keep getting a "phantom baby" on one of the channels of our video monitor! It is super creepy - we laugh about it and it's usually just if you are walking from one room to the next or holding the monitor a certain way but this evening I can't get this other baby off of my channel (and I can't get the nursery in my own house on that same channel). Obviously someone in the neighborhood has the same monitor but I really don't know what I can do besides go out and buy a new system right? Anyone have this problem? I'm sure they can see my 2 kids in each of their rooms as well which is also a little unsettling...
I may have to part ways with my much beloved Summer Infant video monitor (and my H swore we'd have the girls under video surveillance until middle school! haha)
Re: Video monitor & our phantom baby :)
you can't just change channels on your system? Surely being a video (and not a cheapie) there are multiple channels.
We had the Summer Infant Handheld and had this happen but only if our camera was turned off and we turned the monitor on. As soon as we turned our camera on, it went away. Did you try switching to the other channel?
We just bought the Zopid a few weeks ago and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. You can have a slew of camera (we only have 2 but it's nice to know we can add to it). It automatically switches back and forth between both rooms at an interval that you set, and it's digital so there is ZERO interference from other stuff. The Summer monitor used to drive me bananas at night b/c it was SOOO staticky, no matter what I did or where I put it. I hated that.
I agree that the video monitor is prob my top must have for a baby. DS1 is def old enough to not have it in his room, but I love being able to see him, esp if he isn't feeling well etc.
This was us too. We only picked up the neighbors when our camera was off.
Good to know about the Zopid - I've already picked a video monitor as the gift I'm getting for my brother's future baby and I'll make sure to tell them to look into that one and see if they like it.
