How do you secure a partition wall?

I have a split level house and in the hallway, you can lean over the wall to look down the stairs below.

So far, it's never been a problem but my bff just showed me a picture of her 18mo old scaling the fridge.  The fridge!  It's totally freaked me out because if that one second happens if I am ever babysitting her that my eyes go off that child and she goes over that wall, she's sipping jello through a straw the rest of her life.

To the far right - can't see in this pic - is the half wall I'm talking about in the far left of the second pic.

Re: How do you secure a partition wall?

  • And, are there hinges for doors that are not seen?  My hallway doesn't look like a hallway - it looks like a hardware store.  EW!
  • I don't think you can.  You could put glass or plexi glass to make it so arms/legs don't get stuck but I have never seen anything to attach to make it higher.
