Dh and I always associate the next few years with how old LO will be. Example:
DH: So did you want to go to Chicago for Thanksgiving? (Our families live in Chicago-area). Nathaniel will be 5 months or so by then....
Me: Well...Christmas time might be better because he'll be sitting up and we could get better family pictures...
(or)
Me: When do you want to try for another baby? (Hehe I know right?!)
DH: Well...I'll be done with school in 2 years, so if we start trying after another year or two after Nathaniel, then he'd be 2 or 3 by the time his little brother is born...
(or)
Me: Can you BELIEVE next Mother's Day our son will almost be a year old?!
DH: Can you believe I'll practically be a FATHER for FATHERS day this year? (June 20th=Fathers day, June 24th-ish=baby due!)
Its like, Nathaniel is already such a HUGE part of our lives!! I love it!!
Re: SERIOUSLY, am I the only one who does this?! :0)
we do that too...all the time! It's nice to plan around that.
Yesterday I saw a concert announcement for July, emailed DH and said "well...who would take care of Owen, he'll only be a month old, but I'm not passing up an opportunity to see Heart!"
This is how I feel!
We don't do it much but sometimes - like trying to plan for the holidays this year. And yesterday DH came upstairs and told me that he broke the news to his friends that he won't be going to Vegas with them this July - they had all talked about it last year and was just looking at tickets now.
I am due July 31 and he was really excited to tell them he couldn't go (although he had looked forward to the trip) because he "has to introduce his kid to the world this July"
We do this all the time too! I can't believe how much she is a part of our lives and our conversations already - we were just on vacation and spent the whole time planing on what we would do next time when we take Mags there (we even have given into instinct and are calling her Mags, despite wanting to use the nickname Nolie - her name will be Magnolia).
We do it about every day things too (and add in imitations- DH's favorite) like:
me: "I bet Mags will love pancakes"
DH "She will be like Daddy can you make mine with blueberries, I like mine with blueberries just like you do"
This.
HEY I doubt it!! I'm sure your DH just doesn't know what to say--especially since the guys don't CARRY the babies, I think sometimes they feel out of the loop
Hey these are cute!!
And PS, for the ladies who's DH's don't seem as "into" their pregnancy--I bug DH with details all day long! Like, "Hey, did you know our baby is the length of a piece of notebook paper?" or "HEY do you know the baby has hair this week, but its white because it doesn't have pigment yet?" I just think men have a harder time because until they can FEEL kicks on the outside, its probably harder for them to grasp the concept of an actual human being in there!
You'll see, they'll come around ;0)
We do. It's kind of funny but I love it
I'm already thinking of how much fun Christmas will be this year... and Halloween. Even though she'll be too young to really get any of it
DH is already discussing that we should start trying for #2 when she turns 9 months (it took us 4+ years to get pg this time, so he doesn't want to wait too long). I'm just kind of... trying to get to the delivery part first, but it IS fun to talk about
Sara
I bug DH too - I have the WTEWYE app on my iPhone and I give it to him to read all of the weekly updates, it is like a little ritual...or I will email/text him things like: Baby Love is the size of a spaghetti squash today and weighs about a pound...can you believe how big she is getting! It is a fun way to make him feel very involved in the process.
Exactly!! :0) But I think some guys (and its not good or bad, it just "is") just bond after the baby's born. Either way, the babies are loved

PS. Aww "ritual" so cute!!
I know! I was being a little greedy and hoping he would be born early
(Not TOO early!)
