advice on strollers...Poll

I have no idea on which of these would be the better choice. So any advice or opinions would be appreciated.[Poll]

You really need to go to the store and get your hands on them.  See how heavy they are, practice folding them, etc.

It is way too hard to judge a stroller just by looking at it on the internet.

  • Hi Alison,

Looking at the two options, I would select neither.  Not because I don't like how they look, but because they weight 40 pounds each.  Last night my hubby and I were in the BRU looking at strollers and with a 9 pound car seat and a 23 pound stroller it was a pain.   You are going to wish you had something lighter pretty quickly.  I made my DH walk around with the car seat for about 5 minutes.  By the end he was complaining up a storm.  We're actually going to REI to look at some of the stroller options there because they are MUCH lighter.

    Good luck.

  • I guess I understand that. It's just which one looks more gender nuetral to you?

  • Focus on the carseat, and get a stroller frame. By the time you will be using the travel system stroller on it's own, you'll likely want a smaller, more umbrella type stroller like a Macleran or similar.

  • I'd check BB and CR for carseat recommendations and go off of that. (When choosing a travel system.) I don't believe Evenflo's infant seats are rated very high, although I could be mistaken. I went with a Chicco system because their carseats are rated so well.

For the stroller I'd decide what's important to you to have and go and play with them to see what works for you.

  • Ok, here's my advice, but keep in mind I got my stroller from a yard sale. It's a jeep stroller that was made before they came out with the 3 wheel system. What I love about it is, my almost 3 year old fits in it nicely still. The basket is a decent size and it has cup holders as well as a compartment up top for keys. If I was buying new, I would make sure the wheels turn fine and it folds up pretty flat. Strollers can be a PIA if they are bulky and heavy. Also, if they are hard to collapse one handed, that's another worry. I chose to purchase a Snap n Go stroller to hold the car seat. We used that until DD was big enough to ride in a regular stroller. The basket is huge on the Snap n Go and holds most carseats (just make sure it holds the one you have).  So I guess my advice is, find the safest car seat and if it does not come as a travel system, go with the snap n go and find a stand alone stroller that is not as expensive, unless you plan on using it a ton or going on long walks.
