Hey ladies,
So I was a little heavier than I would have liked to have been when I got pregnant but the news came as such a great surprise that I was elated and over the moon. Actually, I had loss a ton of weight right at the beginning of my pregnancy, not knowing I was preggers, just from healthy eating and exercise (didn't have m/s, lucky me).
However, I have to admit I have indulged in my cravings so far this pregnancy. I am craving things I NEVER crave when not pregnant (yes, I know we all do). The biggest one for me is fries, specifically POUTINE! OMG! I feel SO guilty when I eat this though like I am harming the baby each time I do.
How often do you guys give in to your unhealthy cravings? Do you feel good or bad about doing it? Should I just give in and eat it?
P.S I did have poutine three times last week but I am kinda thinking that's what I want again! :S

First of all, I'm going to my friends wedding in Quebec in May and am planning on having poutine as many times as possible while I'm there!
Second, I've eaten more fast food in the last 5 months then I have in past 5 years pp. I eat what I want but make sure not to go overboard on the crappy stuff. And if I think I might want a burger and fries for dinner, I make sure to have lots of fruits and veggies during the day.
Fairly often. I eat mostly healthy foods, so even if I indulge every day, I'm not really eating any worse than the average person.
I mostly crave sweets so if I eat a small bowl of ice cream each day or have a piece of cake or cookies, that's the only place I'm getting unhealthy calories.
And I eat unhealthy meals from time to time. I eat pizza every now and then. I probably have eaten mcdonald's at least twice during this pregnancy. And I've eaten bar food (wings, fries, etc) at least once a month.
My main goal is to make sure I'm eating what I need to eat - enough servings of whole grains, fruits, veggies, dairy, and protein.
Daily (LIttle Debbie Snack Cakes or cookies)
I also eat very healthy during the day and watch my portions for those indulgences. I might eat 4 Thin MInts, but not a whole sleeve of cookies. It's all about moderation.
I try to eat healthy and give each craving a 30 minute window to fade - I find that sometimes it really is just a passing fancy. If the craving lasts, I eat what I want, in moderation. Most of the time I just want a taste of whatever I'm craving, not a whole meal of it.
Also, IMO, the advice that you should try to fulfill the craving by eating a healthier version of what you want (ie a baked potato in place of fries) is a bunch of junk- most of the time I'd eat the baked potato and then get the fries as well.

I try to eat healthy for the most part, I love eating fruits and salad and stuff but at least one a week I crave pizza and I definitly don't hold back on getting a slice or two... Ive also had my share of fast food as well, I get Taco Bell cravings every once in a while.... I say try your best to eat healthy but if you want something bad indulge a bit and have fun doing it!

I allow myself one treat a week.
Last night I had a brownie for dinner, so I have to be good the rest of the week. There are lots of healthy alternatives to unhealthy foods, so I usually go that route.
