2nd Trimester

So sick of my IL...

Not the normal IL vent.  Seriously, just because I went 22 years undiagnosed does NOT make my disease any less serious.  I was finally diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that causes me serious pain, discomfort, and disability.

MIL says to me "Well you were fine for 22 years"...UHMMM NO for 22 years I was told I was crazy and brainwashed into believing I was normal.  They still don't grasp the whole bone cancer thing as "serious".

Vent End.

sorry had to get it out.

    First, I don't blame you. I'd tell her to can it.

    Second, WHOA. What?? You have bone cancer? Did you just find out?

    What a douche. Just because they didn't know what was wrong with you for 22 years didn't mean you are in any less pain. Sorry they suck! T&P for your condition.

    I had bone cancer 3 years ago. I  had my chest wall resected (meaning they took most of my 5th rib and put in kevlar) thankfully it hadn't metastacized and was completely encapsulated in bone.  apparently, since I didn't need chemo or radiation I didn't reallly have cancer, according to MIL.

  • Oh man I am so sorry you are going through this!  My mom doesn't really get my MS diagnosis and seriously told me a few weeks ago "to just buck it up" um yeah it doesn't work that way!  {{hugs}}

    it seems because we dont' WEAR our disease on the outside people just can't grasp what's going on inside.

  • Wow, that just plain sucks.  I hope you are getting the care you need and just ignore their ridiculousness!
  • Yeah that has got to be the worst!  I am unbelieveably sorry, people just don't get it sometimes!

    Oh wow, I'm sorry. T & P to you! I hope your MIL either gets a better understanding of your situation, or just shuts up, either way. Left Hug

  • WHOA, what?! I'm sorry, but no matter what, cancer is serious business. Some are lucky enough like yourself to not have to endure the harsh-ness of chemo and other treatments, but it doesn't mean it is any less of a threat to their health or that they were 'just fine'. WOWZA. So sorry. I'm very glad you were one of the lucky ones and that things are going ok for you. I hope you stay IN remission for the rest of your days!
