Man, it's like EVERYTHING is potentially dangerous, just heard of the whole bumper/sids correlation/danger. So if you don't use bumpers, for bedding it would be just the fitted sheet and skirt?

Re: S/O Bumpers
We were told last week at prenatal not to use sleep positioners as well, same risk as with the bumpers!
It's like...fitted sheet, dust ruffle at the bottom if you want one, and a thin blanket (they even recommend no to the comforter!)
Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless
try laying on the couch and smushing your face into the back of the couch cushion. yea i can do it either and if i did manage to do it in my sleep id move. babies can breath and unless there is something wrong with them they will do what they can to keep breathing. it takes a lot of force to suffocate yourself....while on your side...and not having much strengh on top of it is just insane.
On the other hand i know tons of kids that have gotten very easily hurt, bleeding, bruises, bumps from rolling into the rails. i even know one mom who had to cut the railing off the crib while DD was stuck because DD got her leg caught it it.
See... I always thought this too. Plus for the first bit baby doesn't move much anyways. Then when they do I wouldn't want them to get their arms and legs stuck. Whether I use a bumper or not will depend on my baby... I'll have a video monitor so I'll know if it has a tendency to move and face into the bumper.
i am getting the bumper and plan on having the baby sleep in the bassinet in my room in the beginning anyway. then as previous posts stated, i will see the babies tendencies and if it seems to be a problem i will remove it. my best friend took hers off till her daughter turned 8 months, now it is back on.
