centering pregnancy group

Has anyone ever participated in a "centering pregnancy" group and what did you think? We are scheduled to go to your first meeting on the 16th. I am not big on touching others (holding hands, touching bellies, etc), nor on seeing/showing too much skin/body parts (they do your ultrasounds for everyone to see for example). We arent sure how far they go with this sort of stuff, so we are a bit weary. My husband joked that it is probably going to be all "kumbaya" and "hippy dippy". lol!

I have never heard of anything like that. Sounds a bit too much for me.

I am in one and I LOVE it!  I am 23 weeks and we've met twice already.  Everyone in the group is due in July like me and as a first time mom it's great to hear what everybody else is experiencing. I learn so much more than going to a individual appt. because there I don't know what to ask!  We get measured and hear the heartbeat (and do blood pressure/weight) in a separate room one at a time so there is still some privacy.  It's a great way to meet moms in the area and to experience the process with others.  Our spouses are allowed to come which has also been really neat.  I highly recommend it if it's offered!

thanks, ambi316. I am really glad to see that you like it. I am sure my worries are unfounded. from the sounds of it, you arent experiencing anything I mentioned. I am willing to give anything a try and my midwife was really persistent about us trying it. so, we'll see...
