TTC After a Loss

scar tissue after d&c

Not sure what happened, but I will try it again.  I am normally a lurker, but have a question.  I became pregnant last March, but they discoved a missed mc in April.  Since it had already been 2 week, I chose to have a D&C.

I also have a blocked tube that was discovered by hsg.  My dr. decided to send me for an ulatrasound to check on the ovary of the blocked tube side. There was some "extra lining" visible on the US.  My dr. sent me for a MRI since that lining was not on the hsg or any of the US I had during pregnancy.  I am anxiously waiting for the results and was wondering if anyone had anything like this?  Thanks

Re: scar tissue after d&c

  • Hey there - I'm sorry you're going through this.  It's pretty confusing and frustrating.

I had scar tissue following my d&c last April and didn't learn about it until Aug.  It was discovered on an u/s at my first appt with my RE.  We did another 3d sonohystagram (sp?) to fully diagnose it, then a hysteroscopy (uterine surgery via cervix) to correct it.  The technical diagnosis for me was Ashermans syndrome.  Do yourself a favor and don't google it - there's some scary stuff on the interwebs about it.  But the scary stuff won't necessarily pertain to you and you might end up worrying about nothing.  Some cases are severe and others are not.  My advice is to listen to your doc and make sure you're seen by a specialist before doing anything about it (surgery, etc).  Even if it takes an extra month or more to get in with a good doc, it is worth the wait b/c you don't want to mess with future fertility.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.  I don't know how many others on here had this issue.

Good luck.  And I'm very sorry for your loss.

  • Yikes! I didn't even see your post until now! I'm sorry for you loss, however my m/c was natural so i don't have any answers for you!

again, Im sorry for your loss

  • While scar tissue can happen from D & E or C my OB said it is highly unlikely. I had 3 D & E's to date and God forbid he said he would do more if I wanted and needed them. GL and I hope you get answers quickly.
