AW: Ovulation

So yesterday at 10 am I got the happy pink lines on my ovulation test!!! We'd had sex the night before and then had sex late last night. I hope the timing was okay. I tried to get DH to hold off on sex for that night before but he wasn't having it, haha! But then maybe that would mean a female, since the female sperm last longer. I would love to have a little girl to dress up and eventually go to spa days with :D

Fingers crossed. I just went to my pre-conception checkout and got the green light. I hope I'm part of the one in three who get pregnant the first try! If not, that's okay too. But here's hoping! :)

Re: AW: Ovulation

  • Good luck! I have a hard time interpreting the ovulation tests with lines so I used the digital tests last cycle. I loved seeing the smiley face - it was so easy to read and I got so excited and told DH that we had to have sex because we got a smiley face! It didn't work for us last time, but I'm excited to be able to see the smiley face again this cycle!

  • Crap, now I'm confused--I got a positive result just now too, but I got a negative last night. wth?
  • Ovulation tests are tricky because the line has to be darker than the test line, not just there like a pregnancy test.. not that I ever had luck with that since I didn't ovulate.  GL I hope it works for you :)
  • Good luck!!!

This, or at least as dark as the test line.  I always have days with lighter lines that don't indicate a surge.  Also, keep in kind that your LH surge can be as short as 10 hours (accding to TCOYF).  So, it could actually change overnight.  You could check 2x/day, if you want to be sure and if you just started charting.

  • This past cycle I took a test at around noon and it was negative. At 7pm the same day I took another test and it was positive. The following day at noon I took another one and it was negative. So if I hadn't taken the 2nd one that day, I would have totally missed the surge. OPKs are just so darn stressful sometimes!

  • Good luck!  I hope this is your cycle.
  • So I get a + opk for about 3 days in a row, and then get a - opk.  The day you get a -opk is actually the day your ovulating.  The days you are getting a + opk is the days that you have your surge which allows the ovaries to release an egg.  However in ideal conditions sperm can live 6-7 days.  So on paper by you doing the deed when you have you should have a very good chance of getting pg this cycle.  Good Luck!!

  • Don't worry, they are confusing.  As long as you do the deed near the time of a positive, you should be good to go.

  • Awesome, thanks for the advice guys. I did another test mid day today and it was a *strong* line, way darker than the control line, whereas the others were the same as the test line. DH even said, "now that's a line!" So I think that was the real deal. Now I'll just think happy baby thoughts :D
