Nurseries and Baby Gear

Team Green registry question

Ok, so we are Team Green and plan on choosing a gender neutral bedding and theme for our nursery.  I was browsing a friend's registry (also team green) and I noticed that they registerd for both a boy bedding set and a girl bedding set, along withe other nursery details (valences, light switch plates, borders, lamps, etc.).  Is this odd or is it something that a lot of you are doing?  I want to have the bedding and nursery ready before baby gets here so we still plan on only registering for one bedding set.  How do you ladies feel about registering for both genders?!?! Just curious.

Re: Team Green registry question

  • I assume she was doing that so she could get the completion discount after the baby comes and she knows what it is.  If she is planning on having the baby in her room for the first few weeks, she won't need to have those details of the nursery done before the baby gets here.

  • We just bought our own bedding set b/c we found it somewhere we didn't register.  I wouldn't have registered for one of each though regardless.

  • We're team green and plan on registering for neutral bedding (separates, not a set).  We don't like girly pinks anyway.  We're doing light tan walls, dark wood furniture, and brown, tan, red bedding, accessories, window dressing, etc.
  • We were team green too and I bought several cute crib and PNP sheets myself - polka dots, abc's, safari animals, and registered for 1-2 more.  I didn't go with a set because the bumpers are a no-no, can't use most window dressings in the baby's room so it didn't make sense for us. I've been happy with this.  Also, the kidsline sheets are the best!
  • We didn't register for the bedding, we bought it ourselves.  Most the ones we liked had to be ordered online so we couldn't see them in person.  I didn't want to register, have someone get it then not like it.  We felt it was just easier to buy what we liked.

We did a gender neutral bedding (& would have regardless of what team we were on) because we want more kids down the road & will be able to reuse the bedding.

  • We bought our own bedding, but I wouldn't want gender-specific bedding, anyway, since I'd like to reuse it for the next baby. I would have registered for a gender neutral set if they had the one we liked at the places we were registered.

    this....exactly!

  • I could see if she did it for the completion coupon, but not until after her showers. If she did it before her showers then that is really weird. We're not doing a bedding set, but did register for sheets and a breathable bumper. If we had picked a set it would have been a gender neutral one (which the sheets and bumper are).

  • I agree with all of you.  I was just curious because I had never seen that done before.  Thanks.

Again... this!  I just got done designing ours today (I had sooo much frustration with a team green design that was truly boy or girl). Here's a link..

  • Nope. A (very small) part of the reason we are team green is so we can purchase all gender-neutral things and reuse them for future babies. Crib bedding can be expensive, so I don't see the point in getting a "boy" or "girl" themed set.
