Babies on the Brain

To test or not to test...lead paint!

Ok pretty ladies?I need some opinions! My house was built in 1948 or 1951?both stick out but I?m not sure which it is. We moved in almost a year ago and the paint looks good. The only areas it doesn?t are window panes in between panes of glass (that cannot be accessed) and a few thin cracks in the wall where settling may have occurred. I want to give my future babies the best?but I?m wondering if it?s necessary to test for lead paint? We have a limited budget and aren?t quite ttc but babies are ALL over my mind right now! Fortunately it looks as if most of the paint is new. Would you suck it up and pay the money for testing or do you think we are likely ok?

Oh I should add that it was a foreclosure...I know they scraped the paint off the garage and repainted it but I'm not sure how strict they are on the interior...

  • There should have been lead paint testing done when you bought your house. I'm pretty sure it's required for homes built before 1978 unless both buyer and seller sign a waiver.
