DH and I agreed to have dinner at my grandparent's house tonight.
This is the overbearing opinionated, trash talking grandmother who asked DH the first time she ever met him if he was sure he wanted to be with me when I got up to go to the bathroom. And has since just gone downhill with her rude condescending comments--but she goes to church and does a lot of good for the community so she can go to heaven. *insert huge eyeroll*
And my mom is busy so it will just be the four of us.
God. Help. Me.
Re: God help me.
Sounds like you have a pleasant evening ahead of you.
I hope it goes quickly and it's not so bad.
Good luck!

Why would you commit yourself to such atrocities?
You know where to find the coconut icecream if you need a hit when you are done, but I'll still be in my PJ's...LOL
I have two living grandparents - my mother's father and my father's mother.
My mother's father I have dinner with every 5-6 weeks, he and his wife and my family. It's fantastic.
My father's mother I didn't even invite to my wedding. Blood doesn't mean everything.
Basically, if you wouldn't let a non-related person treat you a certain way, why should you let her. I say, go to this dinner. If she pulls any shiit, cut her ass off. Completely. Not worth it. You're better than that.
The ONLY reason I haven't cut her off yet is because she lives 4 miles from my mom. And even though my mom is 44 years old, my grandmother treats her like a child. If I quit my grandma, my mom will hear non-stop shiit from her until the day she dies.
And I don't want to do that to my mom. So I've learned to just be a little passive-aggressive towards her and that usually shuts her up.
Otherwise, yeah, she'd be one of those family members I talk to few and far between.
