if we move and I don't tell the new landlords we have a pet? I mean, sshit...she's a small indoor cat who is clean and doesn't mess up anything. I know most people say no pets because they don't want dogs for sure. I have been at the same apt. for 4 years and they still don't know we have a cat. (it's allowed though)

Re: would it be a big deal...
Err...not if you want to risk being evicted or have to give up the cat...
my old landlord had a no pet rule. I asked about my cat and he allowed it.
his mother was also a landlord in our area. She'd evict people who had any pets at all. Once she drove past one of the places and saw a cat in the window. She was a hard ass.
depends on the person - but I strongly recommend asking. Most are fine with kitties (but some fear scratching)

Talk to them about it - most places have rules because of allergies of future tennants. They may allow it for a non refundable deposit fee for pet removal cleaning after you move. Not worth possibly losing the cat or your place to live over.
This. I told the apt. I lived in because in the contract if they had discovered I had a cat and I wasn't home they could send her to the shelter until I could go get her.
But I also got them to waiver the pet fee/ deposit because of the fact that she was an indoor only cat that supposedly was declawed. She isn't, but she doesn't destroy thing either.
dang it. There are so many nice places I have found that don't allow pets.
I guess if they say no to cats, they will probably say no to the snake. lol!
Definitly ask.
What if you needed some maintenance done, and they didn't tell you when the people were coming out. They could come in, leave the door open and accidentally let the cat out if they don't know its there.
Either that, or that is the way they would dicover you had it.
Better safe than sorry.
You have a pet snake? I shuddered just thinking about that. When I was looking for apts back in the day, most places were ok with pets that were in aquariums, so you actually might be ok there. If I were your landlord, I'd much rather you have a cat than a snake!
Mmmm...cake!
My house allowed no pets, but once they met us and fell in love with our credit score, they made an exception.
That juxtaposed with the apartment that nearly evicted us when we got Lucy and tried to hide her...no, I would just tell them if I were you. You'll save yourself a lot of headache.
