So when I was buying carseats this weekend, they asked if I wanted to get the Buyer's Protection on them in case they got wrecked. How dumb is that? Basically the only reason that a carseat would get wrecked (stained/torn fabric don't count) would be if there was a car accident. And then almost every insurance company will pay to replace them. Money scam!

I totally agree with you.
Maybe it's for the people who don't have insurance? You know, because they should DEFINITELY be out there driving.
Yes it will, and my insurance company (progressive at the time) asked if my carseat was IN the car during a hit and run were my car was parked and someone backed into it. Even if DH wasn't in the car, if the carseat was in the car they will replace it.
check your policy, but almost every policy will do that. most have a clause that protects all personal property in a vehicle, up to a certain point, so even if you have suitcase full of clothes in the back and your car bursts into flames, it will cover the clothes. some will even buy the seats in the first place (stripped down models), but that is much more rare.
