Do you pick up with your child throughout the day (like each toy/project he takes out gets cleaned before the next can come out) or do you do one big pick up at the end of the day/before DH comes home?
I feel like I am picking up toys all day long. Jay picks up but is slow at it and doesnt quite get everything put away... so I was wondering what others do??
Have a good Thursday!
Re: Picking up toys question
It varies. Sometimes our house looks like a roving band of toddler vandalizers hit it by the end of the day. On my better days I try and have him put a few things away before he starts another activity. Something along the lines of, "Yes, we can read a book but let's put all your cars away first," or "Okay, we'll play playdoh but first we need to put away your dressup clothes." And then I'll do the rest of the cleanup during naptime or after bedtime. B/c, yeah, toddlers are so freaking slow (!) when it comes to cleanup! Sheesh!
We have a playroom so I just make sure things stay in there. Tonight for the first time in a while I decided to get my DD's help in picking up. We sing a song to make it fun. She helped with some areas and then made an even bigger mess in another area. I usually just pick them up myself during naptime or whenever I walk by stray toys. They are everywhere, but I just try to keep them out of walkways so we don't kick them.
My mom used to babysit a lot and she would pick them up and organize them during naptime to make sure all the pieces were still around. I figure they will turn up eventually!
