Wow. The woman on the View right now is divorced, partly because her husband decided he didn't want to have children after they went through IF.

They have frozen embryos, and SHE LOST THEM IN THE DIVORCE. 

Holy shiit. That's an AWFUL situation. Can you imagine? She can't use them because her Ex fought it.

    Probably so that she couldn't have them because he didn't want his sperm out in the world and didn't want to get hit with child support etc. Arsehole.

    Sounds like they will be destroyed. 

    He wanted kids when they got married, decided later no. The things you sign when you create the embryos apparently has legal language to address something like a divorce, and it leaves it up to agreement or a court decision. The court said they wouldn't force someone to be a parent who didn't want to.

    How sickeningly awful. Though after a stunt like that, I wouldn't want to have his kids anyways and be tied to him forever.

    Ugh, that's disgusting.  He should be forced to reimburse her for the financial, physical, and emotional cost of IF treatments, since he was now made it all for naught.  Creep.

    That is interesting.  When my DH and I had our IVF consult we had to sign a form that outlines what we wanted done with leftover embryos in a variety of circumstances.  Such as what if I die, or if DH dies, and in the event of divorce.
