Starting to gather names for when we are ready (he's ready, I'm not quite there yet). Can you all recommend some fertility specialists in Houston? I have a great OB/GYN, but looking for one step further. TIA!
I saw Dr. Roach also. I drove in from Sugar Land to see her based on all if the great recs, and I wasn't disappointed. My LO should be here next week. :-)
Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!
BFP #1 6/22/09 EDD: 3/2/10 DS born: 3/8/10

BFP #2 7/8/12 EDD: 3/18/12 M/C @ 9w1d: 8/16/12

She was the 4th RE I saw in Houston (I did treatments with 2 of the others, including 1 IVF) Dr.Roach was hands down the best. I love her and her staff and wouldn't have my LO without her!
Dr. Laurie McKenzie at Houston IVF https://houstonivf.net. Did 2 rounds of clomid, 2 rounds of injectibles and 1 IVF + ICSI. The result is in my siggy too They are located in the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Tower.
Heard great things about Dr. Roach but I live in Katy and wasn't willing to drive that far.
we used houston ivf too. we saw both hickman and mckenzie during our time there. one of the nurses, diane, is GREAT. and the lady who draws blood is so comforting. they're a TERRIFIC practice, can't say enough good about them!

I saw Diane as well but my nurse was Susan and I LOVED her too. CJ is the lady who draws blood. She is so good. She even came over to my house to give me my first IM shot because I was so scared for DH to do it the first time.
Dr Michael Heard is in the Medical Center and he's had several write ups in local magazines. I went to him when we didn't know what my fibroids were (they looked like they were coming out of my ovaries on u/s) and he talked me through everything they might be able to do should something be wrong. He performed a laparoscopy on me to discover they were just fibroids and that nothing was really wrong. Even though I didn't have to use him for fertility reasons, I was highly impressed by his credentials and bedside manners. He's very upbeat and positive.

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34
I saw Dr Gill at Houston Fertility Institute. All the doctors that I've met there are great, actually.
Can I cast two votes for Dr Gill - one for each kiddo?
FWIW, a good friend of mine went to Dr Hickman for a while but recently switched to Dr Gill. She liked Hickman a lot, but Gill was a lot cheaper. I know it feels weird to price shop for doctors but since insurance usually doesn't pay diddly squat for infertility, it's something that needs to be considered.

Yeah, they aren't as cheap as say, Dr Roach, but the prices were not too bad. Plus if you're doing IVF, if the first one doesn't work, any after that, you don't pay any doctor's fees, so it's essentially half price for the procedure and monitoring itself. Fortunately our first one worked, but that was nice since they don't do Shared Risk otherwise.
On a related note, the SART stats for 2008 just came out. You can research clinics' IVF success rates at www.SART.org.
And let me take this opportunity to cheer on Dr. Roach's amazing rate in 2008! Glad my little Oliver could do his part to contribute to the 81% live birth rate in <35!

I, too, went to HIVF and loved them. I saw Dr. McKenzie and met with most of the staff - love them all. I am 34 weeks with my HIVF miracles.

Ditto.
ETA - We drove an hour each way from Clear Lake to see her. Totally worth it and plan to do it again for #2.
BFP with no treatment!
Aww he is my doctor! I love him! He is very personable and understanding and knows his work.
