WE have a baby on the way due this july and I have my ds who is 2.5 still using the crib. I dont know if he will be ready to be in a toddler bed but if not we have a backup plan ( mom has an extra crib she will let us use.
Anyways we have a brand new toddler bed my bil gave us that his son never used. It doesn't match the furniture we already have and dh wants to sand it down and paint it.
My question to you is this. If you had your dc in a toddler bed how long where they in there for? I"m just wondering if he wont be in it long then why bother painting it and just invest in a twin or full size bed for when he is ready. Ds is now 3' 3/4 inches tall ( dh is 6'2) and not sure if he will grow out of it fast right now or not.
Thanks
Re: How long did your toddler use the toddler bed for?
We have a convertible crib, so for toddler bed, we had it on the daybed position. He was in it that for a few months before we moved him to his new bedroom and new full size bed.
We converted DS's crib to the daybed when he was 18 mos..he's still using i and will be 4 in April. We plan to convert his bed to the full size option in the fall. He's 42" & 43 lbs now, and is fine. DH and I still have a full size bed (I know, huh!), so we plan to get a queen or king and give DS our mattress and use it w/o the box springs.
We've bought all 4 kids their own cribs, and plan to sell them all and rearrange the sleeping setup sometime late 2011...boys together/girls together and buy all new furniture at that time. I just need to make sure I get my new bed first!
