So how much does a foot tattoo hurt?

I can't compare, since my only tattoo is on top of my foot.  It definitely hurt, but it was small so it didn't take long (maybe 15 minutes?).

I don't know about the ankle, but the one on top of my foot was pretty painful. It was the most painful out of my front shoulder and on my tummy.
Then again I've had problems with that foot before so that might have contributed to my pain. It was over quickly though, so it was definitely tolerable.

It hurts like a b!tch and it takes a long time to heal. I got mine in the summer so I could go shoeless.

But it looks awesome (I got a sweet pea, for my DD).

It hurts like hell.  I have several tattoos (inside ankle of right foot, wrist, lower back, middle/top of belly just below chest and a large one on the top of my back between my shoulder blades that was done by bamboo stick in thailand, and finally one that wraps around my ankle and goes down the front of my foot).  The one on my foot was the only one that I actually wanted to stop them in the process from completing.

I hope thats not too discouraging.  I love it and am glad I let them finish, but it was very very painful!

Any tattoo where the skin is right on top of the bone is going to hurt like a mofo.  Top of foot, spine, hand, etc.
