Does DCP give you a list of LO's daily activities?

DD is in the infant room at a franchised DC. On our tour they said that each child had a daily activity chart filled out each day. On one side they list diaper changes, naps, and feeding info and the other side is space for various kinds of activities. On the tour, the sample chart we were given for the infant room had activities like 'we read this story' and 'we practiced holding our bottles' and 'we felt cooked macaroni' and 'we painted with sponges' etc. Obviously I don't expect all of these to happen every day. But now that DD is there, our chart very rarely has anything filled out on the 'activities' side (although the naps, diapers, and feedings are recorded). Just wondering if this is normal. On very rare occasions (about once a week) the activities side is filled out but it is completely filled in in the morning before any of the activities are even done (presumably they are the activities they have planned for the day). If your DC fills out your sheet is is completed in the morning or only after the stuff is actually done? TIA!

Re: Does DCP give you a list of LO's daily activities?

  • In short , yes. What books they read, songs sung, etc.
  • Loading the player...
  • Every Friday we are given a sheet that explains what they plan to work on for the next week with our son.  His daily chart has activites listed on them that are checked off.  I would be willing to guess they are check during the day at around nap time.  Diaper changes and feedings are recorded just like you mentioned.
  • Our experience is similar to yours-- started out with activities ("watching the teacher blow bubbles" or "played with the birdie playmat tweet!") but we rarely see activities now.  I know she's doing stuff, they're just not recording it.  I'm not too disappointed, but I do see her on the webcam a few times a day.
  • Yes, we get a little paragraph about what they did each day and which things DS liked the best. They do it at the end of the day (usually around 5pm, b/c if I come then, they are filling them out).
  • Yes, I get one every day that lists diaper changes, naps, what she ate, how much she ate, what kind of mood she was in etc. Then there is a section for activites too. The sheet is designed where the teachers can circle the applicable answers for each section and they write in a little bit more info under the "today I enjoyed" section. We also get a calendar that lists all activities they will do that month and a newsletter that highlights some of the things they did the past month and activities that are coming up next month. I feel very well informed!
  • We get daily activiy sheets for the kids and they vary based on age.  In the infant room, it listed the diapers, bottles and naps which was the most important and it had a spot for activies and most of the time it would have a brief summary of what they did that day but sometimes it was blank and sometimes it just highlighted 1 special thing they did.  In the Toddler and Preschool rooms the sheet list diapers or potty training (not in the preschool room on the potty once they are trained), meals and naps and they have a few different areas to list the class theme, special notes that I need to know and they list a favorite acitiviety.  At our center they have white boards outside each room and the teachers fill that out with more details on things they did that day.  It makes more sense to do that rather than writing the same thing 20 times (or however many kids are in class that day).  I always wanted the important stuff completed and could care less about the other stuff as I'd rather they spend that time with my kids than on paperwork

  • I just get a paper with their feedings, naps, and diaper changes.  I like the activity idea but our daycare does not do that.  I know they do stuff though.

  • My youngest is in a home daycare. She sends out an email every afternoon with their daily activiites.
