End of mat leave/starting new job.

Did anyone go back to work after maternity leave to a new job? I'm going back to the same firm but a new job in a different department. It will (eventually) provide more money and it doesn't have hellish hours like my old job so it's going to be a win-win.

However I'm nervous that my weepiness of leaving DS at nursery on day one and going to day one of a new job is going to make things more difficult. Or maybe it will be a welcome distraction?

Focus on welcome distraction and hopefully it will become that for you! Also, do you really know you'll be weepy? I didn't shed a tear. 12 weeks off was enough for me and I needed a break.

You might really be ready to go back to work at the end of your 12 weeks.  On my first day I just made sure to give myself a little extra time after dropping off my son.  I went and got coffee and drove to work very slow.  Walking back into my office felt amazing and I was ready for it!
