Wood Letters

I want to make my own wood letters so I can paint them to match the nursery bedding. Where did you get yours? I wen to Jo-Ann Fabrics today and didn't see them there.

Also, how do you tie the ribbon to them? I really would like to use ribbon to hang her name over the crib.

 Thanks!!

Re: Wood Letters

  • You should be able to get the letters at any craft store; Michaels, hobby lobby, you might even be able to find them at Wal Mart?

For the ribbon, I would think hot glue would do the trick.

  • Loading the player...
  • I bought mine at Michael's and used sticky tack to put them on the wall instead of using the ribbon so we didn't have to make any new holes.
  • I got mine at Hobby Lobby and used a staple gun to attach the ribbon to the back of them.

  • I found all my stuff for the letters at Michael's. I used wooden letters in white, pre-made wooden cut out figures of jungle animals, a wood paint pen, a spool of ribbon, hot glue and sticky tack. All of this (minus the hot glue gun which I already had) cost less than $30 and was super easy to do.

I painted the edges in brown and then glued the animals on the letters in different places. Then I glued the ribbon to the back of the letters and tied them in a bow at the top.

To hang them I used the nail hole on the back of the wooden letter and then used the sticky tack to tack up the top of the ribbon with the bow on it and on the backs of the letters to make them hang straight.

It was super easy and way cheaper to DIY than buy them off Etsy, or from a specialty store.
