NYTimes article: The Breast Whisperer

Re: NYTimes article: The Breast Whisperer

  • Thanks for sharing.  I'll admit I was a little surprised at the 12 min./18 min. suggestion.

Also, I found it interesting that I've never heard of almonds for increasing supply nor seen it mentioned here, though she's heard about it from across the globe.  Maybe I'll throw those in my lactation cookies next time :-)

  • I wish that I had her in my area. BF was so hard for the first 2 months. DS was colicky and gassy and throwing up all the time. Then, he would comfort nurse and overeat and throw up again. Ughh...hard times. Pedi ended putting him on Zantac and I eliminated dairy from diet. Helped a little, but I think that the most helpful factor was him just getting older. I would love to just pick her brain.

  • She serves my neighborhood!  She wasn't my LC, but some friends used her and loved her.  We have great LC support here (but NYC labor and delivery sucks).

I love the name beatrix! It was on our girl name list!

It was on ours too!  Until DH told MIL and she bashed it.  Then all of a sudden, he hated it.  That was the end of the sharing of the names with ANYONE.  LOL.

I've heard about almonds helping your supply.  I ate them like they were candy in the beginning.  Unfortunately, they are also little fat pellets, so I had to stop inhaling them all day long ;)

  • Thanks ladies! I just started lurking here, and I like it :)
  • Freda was my lactation consultant!!! I was so psyched to see this article earlier today. DD is 21 months old and still nursing strong!
