I am in the Elk Grove area and our LO is due in July. I have started the search for child care (It's a little overwhelming to say the least).
For those that are in the area is there a daycare, either an at home or a center, that you recommend? Obviously they are all going to say they are the best. And if you don't mind about what are you paying for it weekly?
TIA
Re: Anyone in Elk Grove/S. Sacramento area?
Hi there -
I am not in S.Sac/Elk Grove but had some luck using www.childaction.org. You can create a profile and get a listing of places by you. I know that they have to meet certain criteria in order to be placed on the list. From there, we just met with a handful of people to find one that we felt most comfortable with. We are in Carmichael and pay $175/week full time.
Good luck and congrats : )
I'm in Sac as well and while I'm not exactly in your area, I agree with pp about using childaction.org. I made a list of in-home facilities near our house and visitied each one. We were really happy with our final decision. I pay $140 per week and she's there 4 days a week. When she was smaller and in a center, we paid $180 per week for 3 days per week.
I'm no help as far as in-home daycares, but I live in the south part of East Sac and wanted to say hi and welcome to the board!
I work at the Merryhill school on Calvine Rd and that's where my son goes to preschool (and where my newest LO will go as well). I know there's a great Merryhill in Laguna but I know it's expensive and not really an in-home setting.
This board is a great resource and we have a lot of Sacramento girls but most of them are Natomas/Roseville area. Hopefully someone will chime in with a lead for you! Sounds like you got a lot of good advice already.
