Do you"have to hang baby clothes?

We have a real shortage of space in our house and NO closet space for baby clothes. (One closet in house is storage and no where else to move all that stuff, the only other closet is one that DH and I share and can't figure out another option for our stuff.)  Do I "need" a closet for LO's clothes?  Can I just put everything in dresser drawers?  Unless it's a fancy holiday dress or something I feel like I should be able to put everything folded in drawers, even little sundresses.  Agree or disagree?

  • You could definitely put everything in a dresser.

  • Sure, you can put it all in drawers.  You'll probably just have to do a little more ironing.

  • We have very little closet space, so we plan to fold most things. If it's a nice dress or something like that we'll find space though.

  • I put onesies and sleepers in the drawers and hung actual clothes - shirts, pants, one-piece outfits, etc. but if you need the space, I don't see why you couldn't put it all in drawers.

  • With DS, I didn't hang a single thing.  Most clothes went folded into drawers, onesies & socks got tossed into baskets on the shelf of the changing table.
With #2 on the way, we've moved and storage & space are different- our closet system is better and we don't really want to take up space with a dresser, so most of her clothes will be hung- or we'll use baskets on the closet shelf.

  • You can totally put stuff in dresser drawers.
  • We have the same problem w/ lack of closet space.  We got a wide dresser w/ tons of drawers & a changing table w/ room for 6 baskets so we plan to fold all clothing & use the baskets for socks & little stuff.

  • So far most of baby's clothes are in the dresser.  The only thing hanging in the closet are some dresses and the bigger clothing that we received as gifts that are still on the original hangers and haven't been washed yet.

  • you could put everything in the draws, and just hang up a few outfits in your closet.

there's also this hanger i saw somewhere, i think at target or wal mart, that has like 3 or 4 rows on it so you can hang multiple items on it, and it would be perfect for baby outfits.

  • We're using our dressers, we have one in the room with the change mat on top and then another dresser in the closet since we had an extra one and it fits in there.
  • We're planning to fold everything, since we only have two closets in our apartment, and the baby is sharing a room with us... and our closet is full. If we had room for an armoire I might consider it, but folding is fine. I can't really imagine we'll have many fancy clothes for the first 6 months anyway (we hope to move at the end of the year.)
