Old Navy Maternity - likes/dislikes?

Ok, I finally need to start buying maternity tops and thinking about summer clothes. If you have bought from ON already, what clothes did you like? Which ones did you dislike? I can only order online (no maternity sections in the region) so any input is greatl appreciated. THANKS!!

Re: Old Navy Maternity - likes/dislikes?

  • I've noticed their crewneck tees are not long enough.  They aren't going to cover my belly fully for very much longer.  And I HATE their jeans!

  • I like their jeans but then I haven't really tried others because I'm not willing to pay too much for jeans I'm not gonna wear for long. I have about 3 pairs from ON, 2 from my last pregnancy and one new pair of skinny jeans. I bought a size 6, I usually wear an 8 but they were just to big. I like the shirts. I'm not a fan of big flowing shirts though and I've bought some of their long sleeve regular tops one size up and they are long enough for me but then I'm only 5'3 so everything is long/big on me:) I haven't tried their dresses but they look cute!
  • I got some casual shirts from ON with my first pg and they were fine.  I have 2 pair of jeans and they are HUGE, even through the legs and everything.  I wear a size 2 pre-pg so I got a size small jeans and they are too big.   I returned them for XS and they are much better.  But I feel like most of their maternity runs big for me.

  • I really hated ON Mat. clothes...I even drove all the way to the States to get some! The jeans/pants fit terrible (I am tall - 5'10") and I found the tops to be really loose fitting (even the smalls) and not flattering. I know some people love their stuff,  but it just doesn't fit my pg body.

  • I was lucky enough to have a maternity section near me and was so excited to get stuff. I was sooo disappointed in everything I tried on and just walked out. Everything was cheap crap and fit so funny.

I've been buying Gap stuff; some off the site and some off Ebay.

  • Like PP the pants run huge!  My one pair of pants is probably 2 in too big the elastic in the waistband is the only thing holding them up.

the shirts run funny.  I bought a sweater a size down because everyone said it ran huge and it's still huge.  and I bought a blouse in the right size and it just fits my chest.  With that said you get what you pay for.  I wasn't willing to pay $50 for jeans so I'm happy with them.

  • The only thing I have bought from ON Maternity is a pair of the jeans with the halfie elastic band thing, and some flowy tops.

i lurve the tops, and i enjoy the way the jeans fit - esp a month ago when i wasn't quite in real maternity, but my own jeans weren't worth the effort... now the band starts to fall under my belly b/c i'm getting bigger. however, the fit of the jean thru the butt and hips is still fab. and they're comfy otherwise. i still wear them all the time, but i'm in between a full panel pant and the halfie thing, so i'm ok with it.

just think, spring is coming (in philly anyway...) and there are sundresses to be had!

  • So, would GAP be a better option? I've looked on ebay too. I know ON has the really good sale prices.  I used JCPenney to buy pants, so I'm set on those until I need a pair or 2 of shorts (WI summers are mild, not hot enough for me).

  • PP, yes! I plan to live in sundresses and strechy yoga gauchos all summer! Cool

Yes, I LOVE all items I've gotten from Gap.  When I am not at work I live in my Gap Maternity boyfriend cut demi panel jeans & the long-sleeve cotten scoopneck/crewneck shirts w/ ruched sides.

  • I've been happy with my Gap stuff. It actually fits the way clothing should fit and doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart in the washer.

  • I bought a couple of their plain v neck shirts last night for $5 ea. and I like them. They are very comfortable and light. They will perfect for the summer. I bought some short sleeve one with the intentions of wearing them in the hospital and afterwards.
  • Love--the one piece, black, halter bathing suit!!!!!!!

    Hate--their jeans!!!!!!!!

  • I love Old Navy pants. Mainly because they do run big and i'm already a size 16 pre prego so ON is bascially the only place I can find pants to fit with out spending a ton of money. And I got my ON maternity pants at an outlet so I spent even less! I figure if I'm only going to be wearing them for a little while, why spend a ton of money on them? As for their shirts, I haven't tried their maternity shirts but I'm not a huge fan of their non maternity shirts.

  • Gap is the way to go, especially for jeans/pants.  They are more expensive but worth it.  If you sign up for their newsletter you will start to get a ton of coupons.  They do run big though, so buy a size down.

Ditto, I think the styles look HUGE. I haven't bought anything from them this pregnancy, but last time I got shorts and tank tops from the store. The shorts were fine, but the tank tops didn't hold their shape. A lot of their cotton clothes don't wash very well, and everything in general looks on the cheap side. Other than kid clothes, which I like, ON quality and fit has been on a downward trend for years.

  • I've had better luck at Target than at Old Navy. Gap stuff is so-so for me. some of their stuff fits like a tent. The style that I've found to be cute, regardless of who makes it, is the ruching (runching??) on the side. They are more flattering. I did get a dress at ON that is nice enough.

  • Gap jeans are definitely better than ON...I have a few tops from ON and they tend to be very thin, but if I wear a thin tank/cami underneath they're OK. They're cheap but they work for the 5 or so months you have to wear them!
  • I just bought three ON maternity v-neck tops and love them!  I found them to be long, not wide, which suits me just fine.  I also bought some of their plain tank tops, which I also found to be long, not wide.  I thought for 6 bucks a t-shirt and 5 bucks a tank top they would be perfect, as I only plan on wearing them with this pregnancy.

I also lucked out in the clearance section and found the COMFYIEST pair of roll up pants.  I think they will be ideal cuz I can wear them now, and then roll them into capris this summer.  They are jersey lined and so comfy!

I have noticed their stuff runs large in sizes, and if you are tall, it tough to get pants to fit.  I am 5'10" and their pants are just long enough, and for the likes of jeans, where you want them a bit longer, i am SOL

  • I have found that their jeans run large - gap maternity jeans fit much better and to me were worth the extra money.  I have found that their t-shirts are gigantic!  It might just be the style of tshirts I have ordered but they aren't well fitted at all and tend to balloon out big time.  I'm hoping I fit into them at some point before the baby gets here.  I bought 2 pairs of gaucho pants for the spring that fit very nicely and are really comfortable.  I also purchased a tankini from them that was "true to size" and was pretty good quality.  My suggestion would be if your stuck between two sizes pick the smaller size because things tend to be bigger.  I hope this helps!
  • If you do buy stuff online and don't like it, you can return it to any ON store, even if they don't have a maternity section. So if you can order with free shipping you don't risk losing any money. I ordered several items and about 1/2 worked for me (esp. considering the price) so I thought it was worth trying.
  • I like them so far, much better than Motherhood Maternity I used last pregnancy.  The big thing for me is the price. I did their online sale and got a ton of stuff for cheap, which is great for something like this.

I have not tried their pants though.

  • I like them for casual wear (except jeans, they run big and most of them are the flare-style, which drowns my petite figure), but not so much for work (too casual).

I have picked up some dresses on sale, a mini skirt, a couple of cardigans and a couple of yoga pants (LOVE their yoga pants!!!). I have better luck with Motherhood Maternity altough they are more expensive.
