As much as I hate to say it as a crazy shopper, there is almost always cute baby clothes. I know I will have a really hard time resisting after I know what we're having.
My DH has no idea what I buy unless I tell him. I buy something every.single.weekend. And it's never just one thing. Today I ordered Baby Legs. Five pairs. Our baby has a ridiculous amount of clothes and none of them have been given to us by other moms. It's part of the excitement and fun of preparing for your baby! If it makes you happy and you can afford it, why not? Maybe you can entice him with something he wants/needs/loves??? Good Luck!!
MY DH kept me from buying a super cute baby bunting at the Disney Store... it was on CLEARANCE!!! He says he doesn't want us to jinx what gender we have cause the bunting was pink with baby Bambi on it... I offered to buy the blue one with baby Thumper on it too, but he told me no

I know the feeling. My DH doesn't want me spending much on clothes either. He says "how do you know what size we are going to need". I guess that is a good question. What size should I be stocking up on?
Mine is trying to stop me too! He says to wait and see what our friends and family are sending us, but I'm like "You can never have too many footed PJ's!"
I have the opposite problem...I can't get DH to STOP buying baby clothes, his closet is already full and I'm the one getting yelled at that we aren't leaving anything for anyone else to buy...i'm like it's NOT ME!
Re: DH is being mean...
Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless
