favorite (healthy) breakfast?

A few weeks ago I was so proud of myself making a breakfast sandwich every day, with sausage, eggs on whole wheat bread.  My DH convinced me not to eat the sausage anymore because of nitrates.  But I really like to eat something hearty in the morning.  It keeps me full for a while longer than a bowl of cereal and fruit or yogurt.  Any thoughts?

  • What about if you switch out the sausage for turkey bacon? That's what i do.

  • I make my own pesto and I must say it really hits the spot! In the morning, I smear the pesto on two pieces of dark rye bread and put a fried egg (well done of course) on each piece. I follow it up with a glass of OJ.
  • I almost always have cheesy scrambled eggs with toast and either milk or juice.
  • DH's are worry warts!  I have eggs with PB on toast.

  • I am a big fan of the Jimmy Dean DeLight breakfast sandwiches. It is egg white, turkey sausage and cheese on a whole wheat english muffin.  I am sure its not the utmost of healthy meals because it is obviously processed, but still yummy.  

    I can't eat oatmeal, but that is very healthy and filling.  

  • I have egg whites with fat free cheese almost every morning.  I eat it with whole wheat buttered toast, or bacon, or hashbrowns.  Yogurt and oatmeal I eat also!
  • I usually go with oatmeal, and some added fruit, for breakfast ... it's healthy, and fills me up!

     

  • I like a whole wheat english muffin with low fat cottage cheese on top. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon and put under the broiler or toaster oven until warm/browned. I also like a weird combo of mesquite turkey lunch meat heated,boiled eggs, and grape tomatoes. I know that one is a little strange but I like it and it's pretty healthy.
  • I have an egg allergy that is normally controlled with medicine, but I'm avoiding eggs entirely right now so that Little Girl hopefully won't get the same allergy. For breakfast I usually have organic maple & brown sugar oatmeal or a fruit smoothie.
  • Being a dietitian, I don't consider sausage healthy, especially everyday.

    I usually make a protein drink in the morning:

    2 squeezed oranges

    frozen strawberries or blueberries or mangos or raspberries (its different everyday

    soy yogurt

    udo's oil

    protein powder

    flax seed and wheat germ

    frozen banana

    I save half for after dinner as a snack before bed

    then about an 45mins to an hour later I have two slices of Ezekiel bread with almond butter

  • I usually have either peanut butter and bananas on whole wheat toast or an organic waffle with bananas and walnuts and sugar free syrup.
  • Here's what I usually eat (most days it's cereal though):

    whole grain bagel with Low fat cream cheese

    egg with cheese on whole wheat toast

    cereal

    oatmeal

    berries/banana/yogurt/granola "parfait"

  • I eat the same thing everyday!  I am a creature of habit!  I eat 5 egg whites w/ fat free cheese and half a cup of oatmeal with almonds and cinnamon!  I love breakfast!

  • Actually, sausage every day isn't a very healthy option.  My fav. healthy breakfast is oatmeal with a glass of OJ and a piece of fruit, usually a banana.  Keeps me full and tastes good.

    This except this is my second breakfast, around 9 or 10am.  My first breakfast is either Special K with whole organic milk and a banana or oatmeal with brown sugar.  Something small and quick.
