The last couple of times I've made fajitas I've bought that fajita seasoning that comes in a envelope like taco seasoning. I haven't really cared for it. Any suggestions on seasoning the steak? Taco seasoning? Salsa? TIA
What brand did you get? Sometimes that makes all the difference here. ?We have fajita night at least once a month with my brother and SIL. I always make the fajitas with the Taco Bell brand seasoning and we all really like it. ?I don't make steak fajitas though, just?chicken, so I don't know if that would make a difference.?
I've never been able to find a packaged seasoning that I like but I found an easy chicken fajita marinade recipe on allrecipes.com and it was really good. There are lots of steak recipes on there too.
When we make fajitas we don't use the envelope. We cut the steak up and throw it in a pot with veg oil or lard. We add a lot of the following ingredients: onions, bell peppers, jalapenos, cilantro, lemon juice, limes and their juice, cayenne pepper, onion powder, Tony's, and a little bit of chicken bouillon. We let it cook and cook and cook down in the pot. The meat gets really tender. The cilantro and limes really make a difference.
I don't have the exact recipe, but I marinate the meat in the following:
-Olive oil
-Lime juice
-Coriander (don't skip this part, it really adds a good flavor)
-Salt/pepper
-Garlic
It sounds simple, but tastes delicious and very fresh. Then I just do peppers and onions sauteed + the meat and tortillas. And I do shredded cheese because I like cheese on everything

cumin, garlic, chili powder, and if you like them spicy: one chili from the can of "chilis in adobo sauce".
Since we only use one, we take the rest out, freeze them flat, then put in a zip-loc to use later.
ETA: cilantro and lime juice are a must! I was so focused on just seasoning that I forgot all the veggies and stuff!
