I am not going to lie, I am totally paranoid about this being emailed to someone I know. Thank you all for your opinions though, made me feel a little better!
The only time I've seen a groom at a shower was when it was a couples shower. I think the poor guy would just feel out of place at a bridal shower with a bunch of women.

This, Also I would not want him there. The shower is a girl thing, people are there to shower the bride!
I actually have the Emily Post wedding edition and have read the entire thing. I *think* I remember her saying that grooms at showers is a very new thing. I live in a very traditional area and things are pretty much done according to Emily Post, and have never seen grooms at bridal showers. I have seen them at couple's showers, but those are indicated as such.
Edited for grammar b/c I apparently don't understand plurals vs. possessive.
It's fairly common in my area for the groom to bring the bride, say hello, then GTFO. I have also experienced the groom picking up the bride at the end to help with gifts.
All DH did was drop me off and then load the car at the end. Other than that, he was off with all the guys, including my dad and brother. I think that's pretty customary.
Re: Emily Post experts, I have a question. (DDed info, TY!)

My DH was nowhere near the bridal shower.
