I'm foregoing FFFC from here on out. It's pointless. You're going to get flamed anyway. Whatever.
It really pisses me off when I see people smoking in the car with their kids in there. Like, to the point that I am thisclose to saying somethig to them. I know that's not my place and it's rude an all of that, but it gets under my skin the same as if I saw someone slapping their kid in the face.
I know that as a Libertarian, I should not be in favor of smoking bans, but I am also big on the protection of children, and I would totally support any law that made it illegal to smoke in your house or car if kids are in there with you.
I WILL TOTALLY BREAK MY NO-JUDGING RULE IF YOU SMOKE AROUND YOUR KIDS.
Vent over.
Re: A flammable vent.
Many provinces here in Canada have actually made it illegal to smoke in a car with a child under the age of 16.
Nova Scotia was the first to do this a few years ago. I had my 7th graders write a persuasive essay on this. I was so proud of a lot of their responses.

You can't smoke in the car if you have kids riding with you in VA. Well that's the law anyway.
A couple months ago I was at a Dr's appt with J. We were on the 2nd level and there is a big picture window from floor to ceiling that looks out over the parking lot in the waiting room. A van pulled up and I noticed that the guy driving was smoking a cigarette with the window rolled up. I thought to myself "ugh that is so disgusting, I bet he reeks!" Him and his wife then got out of the van with an INFANT and what looked to be a 3 yr old. What are some people thinking????
It's bad enough to risk your health but then put both of your child's health in danger because you can't curb your addiction for 15 minutes while you're in the car. On top of that you don't even roll the window down? That infuriated me!
Illegal in California too...
HUGE thumbs up (my icons aren't working).
LO's dad is a smoker and would never dream of smoking around our son. If you are gonna do that, get away from the kids and go outside.
Yup!! We were the first and I remember the uproar it caused and how many stories were on the local news about it. And of course just like a million other things you're not allowed to do, people still do it!! I hate seeing it. I feel so bad for the poor kids playing in the backseat, it's such a shame. And what's worse is usually the parents think because they have the window down that makes it ok!!
