Probiotics for infants

I recently saw a lactation specialist and told her about my sons extreme gas.  Although it doesn't seem to bother him all the time his gas is always present.  The lactation specialist told me to try giving him probiotics daily.  It is a liquid and requires me to give him 5 drops once daily.

Has anyone else used this to help relieve an upset stomach and gas?

Re: Probiotics for infants

  • Yes, and it worked really well.  I'm not sure how old your son is, but you can also give him probiotics through whole-milk yogurt with active cultures.
  • Yes, probiotics worked great for my son who had intense colic. It was pretty much amazing and I wish I had learned about it earlier.

  • Yes, it also helps with pooping issues... can't go or too much go...

My friend's baby had "can't go" issue so doctor recommend probiotics to be added to her bottle...

my DS had some virus that was making him have diarrhea for 2 weeks... it was bad... and other then waiting for the virus to run it's course, doctor recommend giving him some Probiotics to his bottle so his intestine can grow good bacteria again to help with "healing" process...

now if he doesn't have a yogurt that day then I try to add a probiotic to his milk...

  • I would take a probiotic yourself first if you are nursing. Mother's Market has excellent ones.
