Does your LO have a "lovey"?

I read Sleepeasy and another book that suggested using a lovey.  We have a very small blanket that was a gift for LO that has minky fabric on one side and a silky fabric on the other, and it's about 12 inches by 12 inches.  I slept on it and give it to him to hold while he's nursing so that it has a familiar scent, and I want to give it to him to nap/sleep with it, but I don't know that it's really safe yet.  The book says it is fine as long as you can breathe through it when it's balled up over your face, and I can, and I know LO always has his hands free to pull it away, but I'm still unsure.  Does your LO have a lovey yet?

  • Yes, he has a little bear blanket thing from Target.  It's silky on the underside and then a fuzzy white bear on top.  He holds it when he sleeps.  It's usually down under his arm, but he likes to put things over his head, he will pull it down and giggle after a minute so I know he can manipulate it on and off his face.  I have never worried about it - he's been sleeping with it for about a month now.

  • No lovey, but I do give him a burp rag to hold.  At night, I take it out of the crib after he's fallen asleep.

  • He does but I've only given it to him in his swing and in his car seat.  It's a little blanket, sounds like the one you have.  He loves it and sucks on it and rubs it on his face.  Once he is asleep he is usually just holding it.  In the next few weeks I might start giving it to him to sleep with at night.

  • DD has a little bear blanket like pp.  it works great it helps her sleep anywhere when we are not home. she also sleeps with it at home so it is familiar to here is we stay out late or what not.
  • Yeppers. Sounds like the pp. Silky on one side and minky on the other. DD LOVES putting it on her face, she pants like a dog, kicks all her limbs around, laughs then pulls it off. It's HILARIOUS to watch! I have yet to let her sleep with it, still nervous about that altho she's sleeping on her belly now.
