Hey. I am going to stay at CNY Women's. I do really like the nurses, and staff, and I was more at ease when talking to you about Dr. Fitzgerald. You are right though. They really do shove the gen. testing stuff on you.
Is there anything else I need to know about them? I'm still amazed that I've been twice, had a pap AND ultrasound, and they aren't billing it as OB yet, so I'm still paying co-pays for each visit.
Re: emiliemetcalf...
I loved the nurses and how they recognize you after awhile and pp ask about the baby. I don't like Maria (the NP) she is always in a rush and when I see her I end up waiting forever...I waited for 45 minutes the last time and she was walking out the door as I was still asking her questions.
Also one of the ultrasound techs told us at 13 weeks we were having a boy so for 7 weeks, it was all my husband talked about (even though they said it was really too early to tell). And as you can see, I have a girl
I think with any OB you have to ask questions, especially if you have a personal feeling about something. I did not want to be induced using Cytotec and Dr. Brown said that he routinely uses it unless people ask him not to.
As far L&D, Dr. Fitzgerald really respected my birthplan and even referred to it (i.e. "it said in your bp you wanted a heplock, so let's do that). He also laid out my options for me when it because necessary for me to have pitocin and he gave me time to talk to my birth team and make the decision that was right for me, which I really appreciated. And, I'm not sure if the other Dr.'s are like this, but once he has a patient in labor, he stays at the hospital, so the only time I saw a resident was because the nurse "didn't want to bother the doctor" and he told her not to do that again.
Sorry, that got long, but let me know if there is anything I didn't answer.
