Babies on the Brain

s/o reserved parking spots for pg women

I personally think they should be for women with small babies.  I find it much harder to walk to the store carrying her heavy carrier, my purse and her diaper bag that I found it to walk to the store while pregnant.  But I never parked in them either, I always felt guilty.  Except at the OB. My OB was at the hospital so I did appreciate a close space.

  • I would just like to biitchslap the twatwaffles who park in those spots who are OBVIOUSLY not with child.  I see old women park in those spots all the time who are a good 20 years past menopause and don't have a child with them (like a grandkid or something).

It makes me want to punch elderly people.  And that's not nice.

So this. And the men. We have it at our Macy's, and frankly, I think it's a nice idea there because the parking is difficult. But I also agree it could read Expectant mother/infant parking.

  • I agree.  I don't have a baby just yet, but I never park in them now because I feel guilty.  I can walk from the parking lot like everyone else so I leave them open for those that might not be so fortunate.

  • Once I got to be mega-pregnant, I used the spot and liked it.  Sadly there are only two places in town that I know of that have them.  And one of them is BRU so it's almost always full.

  • Most of the spaces Ive seen have said "new and expecting mothers"
  • There are some that I have seen labeled "family". I think they should use that more often.
  • I think they are ridiculous. Being pregnant and/or having children is not the same as being disabled. There is no reason that pregnant women/mothers can not circle around the parking lot looking for a spot just like the rest of us.

There is no reason they NEED to have a spot reserved for them. If it is really that difficult to walk across the parking lot into a store with your child/carrier, diaper bag, etc then your options are to either not go shopping with your child or circle the lot until you find a spot up front. If you are that pregnant that you can't walk the parking lot into the store, then again your choices are to either circle the lot until you find a spot up front or have someone go with you so you can be dropped off at the door. Although, if you can't walk the parking lot how are you going to walk around in the store?

Parking is a *** around here and I will take whatever spot I can get (legally of course, I do not park in handicapped reserved spots).

While I generally agree with you, there was a point in my pregnancy where my hip became dislodged with each step I took.  It was incredibly painful to walk, but it's kind of a necessity in life.  I was very thankful for the pregnant women spots, and I took advantage of them at that point.

What did you do when you were shopping at a store that did not have reserved spots for pregnant women/mothers?
