my MIL drives me crazy. I try to avoid talking to her too much. Anyways- she flew in for the weekend and when she saw me this morning before I went to work, should could not beleive that I looked exactly the same as I did before i was pregnant. I am 20 weeks.
I was 5'4'' before baby, about 110 pounds and somewhat fit, I ran a marathon 2 weeks before I found out I was pregnant.
While in clothes, I do look about the same and have not really gained anything, my stomach does have a small pounch at the bottom which I have never had.
Anyways-- she said, so since you are older (I will be 38 in April) are you still more likley to get diabetes and bad complications since you are not gaining weight (although you still could I guess) or does the risk go down because you are doing ok so far.
So--I just said, I was not really sure, but that my doctor has not mentioned anything about me being high risk for GD and that I will have the regular test all pregnant women do at 26 weeks, so until then I just don't know.
Now-- I am thinking about her comment.
if your gain is not high (let's say 35 pounds or under) does that really help not getting GD?
I see some things that just say that if you are going to get it, you get it, ohters that seem to say that if you gain more you up your risk.
Being over 35 puts me at higher risk for everything else-- so I assume this too, but doctor never specifically mentioned.
Anyone actually know?
Re: this is a stupid comment (or isn't it)?
