a little over 20 lbs! Like 20, 21, 22...somewhere around there! I feel huge! Every time I go to an appt. I think the ob/gyn is going to yell at me but they never do...
I ALREADY have stretch marks despite my cocoa buttering myself up every morning.
People ask me all the time when i'm wearing my coat, when i'm going to start looking pregnant. Or that it must be all belly. These are the people that don't see me often. I've gained a lot...and i'm already getting uncomfortable! lol
I can't wait until i'm 40ish weeks and I have this little guy - i'm going to exercise like crazy a few months after he's born!
Re: I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and have already gained...
ahh no worries, i gained 4lbs this last week and 3lbs the week before
i gained 50 with my son (and he came at 37 weeks) and it came off very quickly (25 right after he was born).
I use bio-oil and every time a stretch mark pops up, with daily use of the oil it lightens and fades right away. which i love!
maybe try bio-oil instead of cocoa butter?

Aw, thanks ladies! I feel much better
I will have to try that oil stuff because these purple stretch marks aren't cutting it : /
On the plus side, my DH loves that I look pregnant and he loves my pregnant belly!
I've gained 19 at 22 weeks. Unfortunately, I can't seem to do anything about it. I guess our bodies just need it! If your doc isn't concerned, don't let yourself worry.
Sorry about the stretch marks!
Don't stress too much about it. I know I'm at about 20 pounds already as well and am just trying to focus more on healthier foods when I can and am trying to exercise more often than not. As long as your doctor isn't concerned then I wouldn't worry about it. But if it does bother you then just try to remember that what you're eating is going to your LO and so eating healthy isn't only good for you its good for them as well!
I think you look great! Every person is different, and your body is just doing what it needs to do to have a healthy baby. Seriously, you are carrying the weight great and I would never guessed you gained more than a few pounds.
As for the stretch marks, don't feel bad. Lotion actually does absolutely nothing to prevent them!
Hehe...ya I usually avoid the weight posts because of this.
You made my day!
Thank you for reminding me that this is what my body is doing to help me to have a healthy body. He's starting to move more and the extra weight is more than worth it.
I think you look awesome! I have gained 25lbs and I am 23 weeks now. I think everyone is different and those "recommended" weight gains are all wrong. Your body will put on what it needs to in order to carry a healthy baby.
Just remember that the placenta, baby, water, and lots of extra blood weighs a lot too.
Me too. It just depresses me when I see those posts.
I don't remember what I gained and when with # 1, but when all was said and done I gained 49lbs, and I was so mad at myself. As of my last appt almost 2 weeks ago I was only up 1lb or so, so I am making it my goal to not gain a lot this time around.
My drive is due to the fact that I never got back to my PP weight with # 1, but I will get back down after this one if it kills me!!!!
Seriously, where have you guys been? I don't feel so bad now. I've gained about 20lbs too, and I work out at least 4x week for about 30-40 min each time. My OB DOES yell at me though
I had gained 20 lbs at 20 weeks with DD. Right now I've gained 18 lbs at 19 weeks.
I particularly love it when people tell me that I'm all baby or that I barely look pregnant. Awesome. The baby is not 20 lbs, therefore they must have all thought I was super fat before I got pg.
Stretch marks are hereditary. Cocoa butter does nothing to help, no matter what octamom may have said.

Ladies, i'm so glad we all found each other!
Just another poster saying you are completely normal! I am up 19 pounds at 19 weeks. I am not stressing out about it.
Also, if it makes you feel any better, I gained 45 pounds with DS. I was down to my pre-pregnancy weight four months post-partum, and was 12-15 pounds lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight by eight months post-partum. The weight will come off!
This is really all that matters. I know it's hard. I've never been over 115lbs my whole life and now I'm just over 130 at 20 weeks.
But my hubby loves me and my body, and that's all that matters to me! Just know you can loose it all once the baby gets here! It'll all be worth it to have the little bundle of joy!
