I'm totally not judging at all since my foot would also be firmly up XBrooks little brothers ass. I just think it's interesting since usually most of the people on this board are of the "no hitting or spanking" persuasion.
So at what age are kids old enough to start using some more physical punishment?
Re: S/O what age is ok to start hitting?
I don't know but that is definitely old enough.
Its one thing for a 3 yo to say something smarta$$ and not fiully get what they are saying, but this mofo understands.
I didn't get that feeling at all.
Never. I definitely wouldn't hit a teenager. Chances are good that they could kick my ass.
I actually meant a real one.
Call me the DVM - the domestic violent mom
I'm a big girl & I can handle the flaming I'm about to get. I firmly believe in spanking as long as it is done right. After 2 or 3 warnings I use to spank Carter & send him to his room for a couple min. (he had a diaper on it really couldn't hurt, I'm not wailing on my child) after those few min I would go into his room, and we would talk about what happend. "Do you know why mommy spanked your butt? It makes mommy angry when you do this___ or scared, or frusterated." I would explain my feelings & reasonsings, and always seal the deal with a hug & "I love you."
I started when he was maybe 2 1/2 or 3, and by the time he was about 4 he didn't need them anymore. He KNOWS I would enforce punishment & there fore he actually listened to me. At 5 he is a very well behaved boy & if he ever isn't listening all we do is raise our voice or send him to his room or use altenate punishment that wouldn't have worked w/him when he was younger. (example, no pop day on Friday, go to bed early, grounded to your room for 1 night...etc.) I don't care if some people think it is wrong, it worked for me & my child does not run rampid. He understands rules & is respectful. ~Flame away~
yeah no I meant it, I'd definitely give him a nice warning smack.
My mom never hit us, but there were maybe 2-3 times as a teen where she was so fed up with my mouth she'd give me a smack or once I think she pulled my hair. It didn't kill me, and it scared the sh*t out of me to watch my a$$ the next time.
I don't consider this "beating" or violence, sometimes I do feel you need to shove your foot up your kids a$$...particularly a teen.
So, I can't imagine going in, *after the fact* and physically hitting him. Had I been there at the time, I probably would have kicked him in the shins and made him apogolize to our mother.
As for hitting, I have spanked Joey and Cam. Probably 5 times total for Joey and a less for Cam. It has been when NOTHING else worked. So it's not that I'm not a fan of spanking/hitting...I think it is necessary, in some situations.
My first inclination, if that was my son, would be to slap his mouth. But I have resolved myself to NEVER EVER EVER do that as I feel it is the most disrespectful thing in the world to do so I think I would probably end up, in a yelling rage, ripping every last electronic device out of his room (assuming he has them) and throwing them out after smashing them on the garage floor (which is where our garbage is). I can *almost* visualize it happening --- so thanks for the glimpse into my life just a meer 9 years from now X!
