xp: Blood draw traumatized DD :(

We (finally - had to cancel twice due to snow) went to get DD's blood draw done yesterday at Quest. Given her size, they were only allowed to take 3.5mL of blood and had to take that via a heel stick. Fortunately she bled pretty well for it, but she was just screaming the whole time. And the worst part is that the 3.5mL may not be enough blood for all the gazillion tests they have to run.

It was awful, and now poor DD is completely gunshy. She was fearless before this and now all the rest of yesterday and today whenever something surprises her, she starts to cry. She used to love being surprised...I think she realized that it is possible for her to be hurt by something. Does anyone have any experience/advice?

Poor Ellie.
Robbie never had any lasting effects from him. Usually once it was over he was okay. I hope she's back to herself in a day or so.

Marino has been through a lot, medically, and I sort of imagined he would be traumatized by things but he has a short memory! I was actually surprised, the other day he took DH's ear buds and held them to his chest like monitors...the only thing that upsets him is when we go to the doctor and we start restraining him...that's how he knows something bad is going to happen. And after a hospital stay, he generally has nightmares for a while. But no long term damage. Hopefully she will forget very soon!

UGH, I remember those days.  After the first time they took it out of her arm, she's been fine and she watches them and everything, no more tears.   I'm sorry.  I hope they got enough the first time, thats the worst part IMO to have to stick her again.
