So my friend and SIL are hosting my baby shower which is next month. My SIL has been doing everything while my friend dictates things here and there to her - which is ridiculous but my SIL handles it fine. Well we haven't registered yet because I have been having a lot of issues with my bp and have been on and off bed rest for several weeks now. So this morning I get an email from my friend that says: "if you want good stuff for your shower you better get on the ball and register or you'll get a bunch of useless crap". Um, really? Honestly, I know I need to register but it has been the furthest thing from my mind. Second, I'm personally not one to think that a gift that a friend or relative takes the time to purchase is "useless crap" but maybe that is just me. Sorry I'm irritated and frustrated right now - just needed a quick vent. Thanks;-)
Re: Vent: shower/friend related
THIS! DH and I were completely overwhelmed with Babies R Us when we went there - registering online was sooo much better. I don't understand why friends have to be so pushy and try to dicate everything - funny enough, I have found that my friends without children are much more likely to act this way
) Hang in there!
My mom was kind of the same way, but not quite as rude. She was planning a shower and kept on telling me to hurry up and register so she could send the invitations out. She kept urging me to Register at Target. We decided to go to BRus. I told her the day i finished registering on-line and she said ok and would put the invitations in the mail.
At my shower, I got lots of gift cards to Target. i didn't really think that much of it, because you can always use it for diapers, wipes, etc. but later she told me the reason was that she had put that I was registered at Target and BRus.
Oh, well. I guess they have good intentions, but your friend or SIL sounds like she didn't handle it that well.
also, if you do or don't register, people will get you tons of clothes and blankets. At least that's what I got. And some people don't like to get things off the registry because you can sometimes find things cheaper at other stores.
Sorry you had such a bad experience. good luck with the bed rest. P.S. I did all my registering on-line as well. It's better than in the store because you can see other people's reviews. Saved me from buying some stuff that looked great, but didn't work well.
