Everyone keeps telling me that first babies usually tend to come late, after your due date. Wondering if this is fact or an old wives tale. I'm really hoping LO will come a little early (not premature of course) or by his due date.
Mine came 3 weeks early, but that was only because I was induced due to severe pre-e. My sister had her first almost 2 weeks late, and my SIL had her first 2 weeks early.
My co-worker had her first 3 weeks before her due date, but most other people I know had it within the week after their due date...so a little late, but not reeeeeeally late.

At least a couple of days late, there are some ladies lucky enough to go early/on time. My DS was due May 1st and his Birthday is May 15th!!!!!!! I had no signs of going into labor was induced at 42 weeks and ended up with a c-section. I dont wish for any women to be 2 weeks late it was the longest 2 weeks of my life and i was an emotional wreck! I missed my 1st mothers day since he was so comfy in there. So i'm having a repeat c-section this time and its very relaxing to know i wont go over my due date again.
Everyone is different. You should never plan on your baby being late. I went a week late, but I have friends who were 2 weeks early. You just never know.

Just depends. Mine was 6 days late. I say just "plan" on it being after your due date, so you don't get all worked up about it.
This, exactly. DD was close to 2 weeks late. From a mental perspective, I think it's best to be prepared for early but plan for late, so you are ready if need be with your hospital bag but can limit as much as possible the feeling like you're past your expiration date (really, really starts to drag).
I won't get all worked up if I go late, I know LO will come when he's good and ready. Just curious whether this was a trend or one of those things that everyone tells you that's not quite based on fact. Like my mother telling me since I have heartburn I'm going to have a hairy baby....
Like everyone else has said, everyone is different. I was 8 days late with DS and will have a c-section at 39 weeks this time. It did getting annoying when I was late b/c people would ask, "Oh, when are you due?" I'd say, "Last Monday!!!" It was cold, so I spent a lot of time walking around Target the week that I was overdue All of the employees new me by name
I believe that, statistically, most first time mothers do go late (I definitely did), but statistics are limited - they just show general trends and will not tell you what will happen to YOU. So... it's not a wive's tale - it's supported by statistics, but it also doesn't mean that you'll go late.
Re: 2nd+ time moms: do first babies usually come late?
I will state the age old truth
"Every Pregnancy is Different!"
Mine came at 35 weeks... other go over 40!
i just met a guy whos wife gave birth 5 weeks early --1st timer! The baby was healthy and everyone is fine but geez that was a surprise to me,,,,
i also have a friend who always gives birth late, by 2-3 weeks, so maybe it is just dependent on the person???
