I am not really doing attachment parenting but I do find myself letting DS sleep next to me in bed. We both sleep better when I do this versus when he sleeps in the crib. SIDS though is a concern...how do you ladies let them sleep with you? Just in the bed, did you purchase anything?
The chances of SIDS actually go down with bedsharring, but there are other risks. We have bed rails and DH and I had separate blankets when DD was that age (technically we probably still should now).
There is a safe bed sharing check list over on Elizabeth Pantley's website:
You're actually reducing your SIDS risk by having your child in your room/bed with you for a few reasons: his breathing will regulate with yours, you'll notice when he stirs - or doesn't, and you'll be able to attend to his needs quicker.
What you need to be aware of is the smothering risk from your bedclothes, pillow, etc. If you've got a foam pillow or mattress - those are the worst because they don't breathe at all. Keep your covers down at your waist so your LO is only in his swaddle/pajamas (the more mobile he becomes the more lax you can become) and it's best to do away with your pillow altogether, but if you can't (I can't - if I don't sleep with a pillow I wake up unable to move) then keep your LO well below it.
Make sure he's not sleeping on the open side of the bed. We have our
crib set up as a co-sleeper, so when he starts to roll, that's where
he'll go. I know a lot of people use bedrails or push the bed up
against the wall.
You are not going to do anything bad in your sleep. You're wired to protect him, so don't worry about that. Just enjoy the snuggle time!
(Also, I have a mattress protector that we sleep on because I sleep topless and he latches in his sleep and drools milk all over the place. It's messy.)

I start DD off in her ARC (Arms Reach CoSleeper) but then pull her in bed with me after her first waking.
It's currently just me and babe on a full mattress. We don't have any railings, but we're getting some soon. We do sleep with Daddy occasionally, and when we do, when I sleep with her inbetween us, I sleep with an arm around her, so that I can feel if anything is about to hit her. My husband is actually more aware of her than I am! ha!
I wear a long sleep shirt that unbuttons so I can just pop out a boob. I, thankfully, stopped leaking around Christmas. ha! I keep the blankets at her waist level. She usually sleeps SMOOSHED up against me, and I can't move her without her having a fit.
PP already covered the sids stuff!

My DH always got upset with me for co-sleeping I was really bad tho. I guess I was just missing being pregnant so co-sleeping was the next best thing. I co-slept till DS was 5 months old. (I know it was bad). But I don't regret that time, I think it made us closer.

Why was it bad? If you and baby slept well, it's great!

I can't wait until I stop leaking. Right now any top I wear winds up soaked - hence the just being naked part. I put a burp cloth over the boob he's not using to catch my leakage. And we have a space heater in the room so it's a balmy 68-72 degrees all the time.
Oh I should add that he sleeps nicely in his crib and if he's having a fussy night or just trouble getting settled, I can reach out and he holds my hand. It soothes us both...until he's hungry and then it's cuddle time.
